Created by Martin Blondel in 23/10/2010 11:49:19

Over £10,000 Raised.

The Engage Mutual Keep on Running Challenge was by far Steve's hardest challenge so Far!

Enormous praise must go out to everyone who took part in this ardourous Challenge.

To The Guys who ran every step Tony Barrow, David "The Machine" Burke.

Mike Denning, Paul Griffiths who battled to overcome their injuries, navigator Richard Blowman, support by Hughie Denning and John Parry.

Everone who ran the full days or legs. Special mentions to Mark Hudson and his fellow Prison Wardens from HMS Armley who raised £1135, Steve Hampson who came in at last notice, Phil Clarke who led the troops through horrific weather on the final day.

The 26 supporters who ran a mile in the Fanzone on the the Final Day with Ed Bruce completing the mile in the fastest time and Steve's nine year old Son Taylor who finished off the Challenge in Grand Style!

Finally to three people whose support was absolutely phenomonal not only on the challenge but also throughout the last Engage Super League campaign, Tina Clare, Kathryn McLaughlin & James Ogden from Engage Mutual Assurance.

Here is the Final Press Release that signified the end of the Challenge.

The Steve Prescott Foundation has announced its flagship fund raiser for 2010 has raised more than £10,000.

Keep on Running, Steve Prescott’s Engage Mutual Challenge, involved a marathon a day in the four day run up to the Grand Final. The route took the runners from Hull’s KC Stadium to Old Trafford in Manchester.

Despite suffering a bowel obstruction on the second day, which meant he could only run part of the route, Steve’s characteristic drive and determination ensured he was back on the road later that day and successfully completed the rest of the challenge.

Twenty six fans, supporters and friends then ran a sponsored mile in the Engage Super League Fanzone on Grand Final Day. Fanzone runners included Martin Offiah, Steve McNamara, Terry O’Connor and Steve Prescott’s nine year old son, Taylor.

Steve said:

“Without doubt this was the hardest thing I have ever done, a real roller coaster of a challenge. I was devastated when I had to pull out for part of the second day, I really didn’t want let to let the lads down who were running with me. My bags were packed for me and I thought the challenge was over. However, something inside wouldn’t let that happen.”

The Steve Prescott Foundation raises funds for The Christie Hospital in Manchester, one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, and Try Assist, the Rugby League Benevolent fund, which supports seriously injured players.

Steve concluded:

“Many thanks to those who ran with me for part and all of the run, and also to those who have donated and supported me in this latest challenge. I’m going to recharge my batteries, then onto the next one!”
