Big Thanks to St Helens RLFC & Kevin Bell

St Helens Legends v Saints Academy

Curtain Raiser Last Game at GPW Recruitment Stadium (Knowsley Road)
In association with St Helens RLFC the Steve Prescott Foundation advertised a place on Ebay to play in the Curtain Raiser alongside Saints Legends Chris Joynt, Paul Newlove, Paul Sculthorpe, Tommy Martyn to name, a few for the last ever league game at the GPW Recruitment Stadium (Knowsley Road) to be held on Saturday 4th September.
The Auction finished at 1300 Wednesday 1st September with all the proceeds going to the Steve Prescott Foundation.
The Winning Bid was an incredible £1035.74 placed by Wakefield Saints Fan Kevin Bell.
Kevin used to play for Bramley and his brother Nigel played for Wakefield. In 1992 he took his Son James, who at the time was 2 years old to watch Nigel play against Saints. At this match James insisted that both of them became Saints fans and they have not missed many games since. Once the place to take part in the Curtain Raiser was announced, Kevin decided it was a perfect present to payback his son for turning him to support the Saints.
“I have supported Steve and his foundation on many events and when this opportunity came up I was determined that I would give this once in a lifetime opportunity to my son James. It will be emotional for many fans on Saturday but to see my son grace the Hallowed Turf it is absolutely priceless considering I am also helping out an Inspirational Man and Charity!”
The Steve Prescott Foundation would like to thank everyone who has bid and also the St Helens RLFC Club. Most importantly they would like to thank Kevin and James Bell for their fantastic contribution which will make a significant different to the two Charities the Foundation supports, the Christie Cancer Hospital and the Try Assist Fund.
