£2500 Raised By Fun Bike Ride
What another great day! Preccy Ride July 2012
Press Release From Organiser Malcoln Holland (Legend)
Fridays torrential rain throughout the day looked to have scuppered any chances of another bike ride jaunt as the evening brought the odd text message and e-mail with thoughts of the first ever ride postponement
But the following morning what did we have but clear blue skies and a good forecast!!
The sight of the ‘W‘squad, Wrighty, Wilky & Wallace, enjoying their early morning ‘taster’ at 9am in the Crown at New Springs meant only one thing – we were on!
But would the dreadful weather of the previous week be reflected in a poor turnout?
I need not have worried
47 riders, surpassing last year’s total, plus a host of well behaved youngsters, ensured that Steve Prescott would be given the ride that he deserved
It was great to have the legend Steve Prescott present with us for the first hour until his presence with the under 20s was needed at Langtree Park
Particular thanks to:
i) Stuart at the Golden Lion in Higher Wheelton: where his fulsome bacon/sausage butties and his overall friendly reception to a group of strangers that he had never met before
ii) Martin at the White Bear in Adlington: along with his mate Dave in raising £1260 for the cause, for his much needed chip barms, and his overall welcome - top bloke
iii) For Mrs Katherine Boardman: For providing the much needed temporary bar at Red Rock, - (she even remembered Ice Creams for the kids and Ice for the Baileys!)
iv) For Jimmy & Terri at Sams for a cracking buffet and a great night (female pirates and karaoke included)!
v) And of course for Wrighty for his collecting throughout the day – I don’t know where this fellow gets his energy from!
It was particularly pleasing to see a number of debutants on the ride – I hope you all enjoyed it and hope to see you all again
and as regards the total raised I am still awaiting to finalise but suffice to say we have matches Martins £1,260 – so between us we raised over £2,500 got the Preccy Foundation – well done one and all! I will publish full list of riders and final total by end of week
Great weather, cracking company and all in a good cause – what more could you ask?
