Since my last blog regarding the complications I have encountered, I have received my scan results. To my surprise, they were very positive. They showed no change from my previous scan in November, the disease remains stable. My consultant is now happy to leave me 6 months before re-scanning. This is great news for me and my family. I can now enjoy the summer, without having to go through the tough programme of chemotherapy. I must be doing something right ....... exercise??
Also, this week, myself and other ex players (Paul Loughlin, Bernard Dwyer, Steve Hall, Paul Atcheson, Gary Connolly and Chris Smith) took part in a wheelchair rugby match against the World Champions, England. The event was organised by Trust in Widnes, who once again chose the Steve Prescott Foundation as one of the charities to support - many thanks to them, and the lads above who represented the Foundation, for their support. The event was a great experience to get involved in. It gave us ex players a brief insight into the lives of people who have disabilities of the limbs. It was very physical and showed what mental dedication and hard work these guys have to put in, to be at the top of their sport. They certainly earned our respect!
