Hattons Solicitors
Michael Denning – Working on Behalf of Hattons Solicitors and Steve Prescott Foundation Chairman
I’ve been friends with Steve Prescott for many years, respecting the big presence he was on the rugby field and the true gentleman he is off the field. I was greatly sadden to find out that Steve was suffering from such a serious illness, and as Cancer has probably touched everyone’s lives in some way, including my own family, I felt I needed to help. Seeing the unbelievable support from the public, at the first Steve Prescott event with a fundraising dinner at the Hilton and a rugby match at Knowsley Road, I quickly decided to get Hattons Solicitors involved in sponsoring the Foundation too.
I have represented Hattons Solicitors since the business opened in 2001, and we have been involved in various charity fundraisers and Rugby League sponsorships along the way. Working for the Steve Prescott Foundation joins together various businesses in a network where we can really give something back to the community and make a difference.
Being involved in the Steve Prescott Foundation from the start I have seen it grow into something that has helped a lot of people, and Steve Prescott himself is an amazingly strong ambassador going through what he has, while taking part in the most fantastically challenging fundraisers.
I have also taken part in many of these challenges, for example, taking part in the Carnegie Challenge, which saw a 900 mile bike ride across France before rowing 24 miles up the Thames in a dragon boat and running a half marathon to deliver the match ball to Wembley in time for the Carnegie Challenge Cup final in August 09. Having survived last year’s event I have also agreed to run with Steve in this year’s Virgin London Marathon. I have never attempted this distance and, believe me, I am far from being in the shape one would expect for a runner, but I think it is important to get involved to help the charity continue progress, while supporting the great charities of Christies Hospital and the Try Assist Fund.
Hattons Solicitors most recent event sponsorship has been to sponsor a Race Day at Haydock Racecourse on Saturday 17th July, including a concert after the 6 races by none other than Simply Red, fronted by Mick Hucknall. This event will be used to raise money for the Steve Prescott Foundation with a bucket collection and corporate auction too. The synergy between Hattons Solicitors brand awareness and promoting a worthwhile charity, such as the Steve Prescott Foundation, is beneficial for both parties, as we both help to promote each other.
