Donation IMO former Saints player Wilf Roach

It was with great sadness the Steve Prescott Foundation Trustees and committee heard of the passing of Wilf Roach last November aged 85 years.  Wilf who started his playing career at amateurs Pilks Recs, was a centre or wing and played 37 games for St Helens in the 1950s  and was a popular figure amongst the fans. He retained a keen interest in sport and Saints in particular.

Wilf and his wife Elsie had recently celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary and were neighbours of Steve and Linzi Prescott.

Elsie and daughters Shirley and Ellen have made a very kind and generous donation of £250 to the Steve Prescott Foundation in memory of Wilf.  The funds donated will continue the legacy of Steve Prescott, MBE by helping to support the charities which were close to his heart, The Christie Hospital, the Rugby League Benevolent Fund and the SPF Special Causes Fund.

Each of these charities continues to help others thanks to the donations we receive and we are making a difference to people's lives.

The SPF are very touched to be chosen as the Roach family's nominated charity.  Everyone at the SPF sends their sincere condolences to the Roach family.
