Research Capability Funding (RCF)

SPF Background

Steve Prescott Foundation Special Causes Fund (SPF) RCF is a research funding stream that aims to help research-active organisations, attract, develop and retain high-quality research, clinical and support staff whose aim is to study in particular pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) and related conditions.   Thus, helping other clinical organisations to create and maintain a sustainable capacity for people and patient-based research. It also facilitates success in attracting NIHR research grants and other funding, leading to future allocation of RCF – a virtuous circle.

Research Brief

SPF is committed to supporting valid research into PMP and improving the knowledge for earlier detection of the disease and to screen for any genetic mutations for the benefit of all.

Research activity must be sustainable, and as such, SPF aim to work in collaboration with academic partners to access funding through the NIHR.

Our aims in utilising the RCF are to enable the SPF to lead or be a major partner in further NIHR funded projects by building collaborations with:

  • Academics and Universities
  • Other Medical research facilities
  • Third sector organisations

Applications are welcomed Worldwide.

The SPF is committed to supporting those organisations that are making a difference to the lives of those who have been affected by PMP. It is the wish of the Trustees that funding be made available to support relevant research and those individuals who can work towards providing early identification of PMP and to provide data on the probability of genetic mutation.

The SPF have limited funding and groups who are requesting financial assistance must be able to identify in their application how the funds will be utilised, over what period and their possible outcomes.
