Following on from herculean challenges of recent past, Taylor Prescott will take on his hardest challenge to date.
From the 14th -16th May 2021 Taylor will attempt to run 100 Miles in just 48 hours!!!
Spurred on by an amazing anonymous £15,000 donation, Taylor was asked by this donor to test his mind, body and soul to the absolute limit. In true Prescott family style, Taylor has set this incredible #100in48 Challenge to raise much needed funds for Rugby League’s Charity, The RFL Benevolent Fund and The Christie Hospital.
Taylor Prescott said:
“When I was informed about the £15k donation, I just knew that I had to come up with something that was a true challenge and one my Dad would have relished. Last year I did 7 Ultra Marathons in 7 days which was tough, but I think this is even harder. After each marathon I had 16 hours to recover, this time I will have minutes not hours. I am not sure how my body will respond but if I don’t push it to its limits I will never know.
I intend to tackle the #100in48 by running 16 x 10k Segments, which will mean a 10k run every 3 hours continuously for 48 hours.
I know I will need help and support long the way to get me through, especially during the night. In line with COVID-19 regulations, I can have 5 people per 10k to join in and support my efforts to raise money and awareness of the Steve Prescott Foundation and to keep my Dad’s name and legacy alive.
The generous £15k donation will make a difference to so many people who are less fortunate than ourselves. I know it is difficult in present times, but I would love to be able to try and double the £15k which has already been donated. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the donor for their generosity and continued support of the SPF.”
Martin Blondel, on behalf of the SPF, said:
“We have witnessed Taylor Prescott over the years carry his Dad’s name and legacy to Everest Base Camp, carry the 2019 Coral Challenge Cup Final ball on to the hallowed Wembley Turf, run an incredible 7 ultra-marathons in 7 days and now attempt to run 100 Miles in 48 hours. Taylor definitely carries his father’s genes and is so committed to his legacy.
I have seen so many athletes in recent months running a “Goggins” which is a four mile run every 4 hours for 48 hours which is incredibly tough but what Taylor is doing will be double the amount of mileage in the same time.
Huge respect to Taylor for attempting this challenge, I know his dad will be with him every step of the way.”
Taylor’s #100in48 Challenge will start at Ruskin Sports and Leisure @1900 on the 14th May and will finish at approximately 1800-1900 16th May.
We have eight sponsorship packages available at £250.
There are five places available per 10k segment to run with Taylor and these will be distributed on a first sign up basis. We would welcome runners to fundraise or kindly donate to www.justgiving.com/fundraising/taylor-prescott42
