“As a dedicated Salford fan of over 30 years I watched Steve play on many occasions (though was unfortunately too young to have seen his dad play for my team). Like Steve I passionately love everything about Rugby League and I too have two young boys. My wife has benefited from the wonderful care that Christie’s provides for thousands of people every year.

Steve Prescott Foundation (SPF) ambassador Jimmy Gittins is taking part in the Three Peaks Million Pound Year celebration in June. Jimmy, a former Dewsbury and Wakefield Wildcats player had an injury playing rugby league for Sharlston ARLFC in 2002, resulting in him breaking his neck in two places and leaving him paralysed from the chest down. The initial prognosis was that Jimmy would never walk again and he would lose his independence. But, after nine months of undergoing intense physiotherapy, he regained partial movement in his arms and legs.

Dean Simpson of EODiwear® has been in touch with the Steve Prescott Foundation and has very kindly donated a bespoke pair of sunglasses for each of the 42 climbers who are taking part in the Spectrum Everest Base Camp Challenge which sets off in October.

The top quality sunglasses will provide essential eye protection for everyone. For anyone going walking or climbing at high altitude it's essential to wear good quality sunglasses or goggles because on mountains the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays are easily underestimated, with a high risk of sunburn and ultimately skin cancer and eye cataracts. Because mountain air is cool, it gives a false sense of security about the sunlight. But the higher the altitude, the greater the ultraviolet (UV) radiation, because there is less atmosphere to screen out the harmful rays.

The Steve Prescott Foundation is delighted to form a partnership with Endurance Sports headed up by director Mike James in the inaugural St Helens Rhino Gladiator event this summer.

A team of Rugby League legends will be taking on the public of St Helens in an exciting new mud run event. Craig Holland is a 24 year old from St. Helens and a massive Saints fan. He has just starting out as a Rugby League referee as he used to play and wanted to keep within the game. Throughout 2015 Craig ran a total of ten 10k runs in aid of Cancer Research UK.

His plans for 2016 is to set himself an even more impressive challenge and run a 10k at each of the locations of all the Super League teams and also in Newcastle the location of the Magic Weekend. He will be doing this in aid of the Steve Prescott Foundation as he lost his mum to cervical cancer when he was eleven years old. Craig says ' Steve is recognised over the rugby league family, I will do this to honour him'.

The Steve Prescott Foundation ambassador Andy Reid has signed up for the SPF Three Peaks Celebration Challenge which takes place on 18th June.

2016 sees the Steve Prescott Foundation pass the Million Pound mark in donations to charitable causes. We are delighted that Andy will be joining us to celebrate the life of Steve Prescott MBE and the incredible legacy he has left behind. Andy is a fantastic inspiration to everyone who meets him.

Martin Murray & Lee Atherton tremendous day!

The Chapel House Cycling Club began with a charity event that was held in August 2011. Over two days, a group of lads from Great Sankey got together to raise money for The Warrington Wolves Foundation by riding from the Cumbrian coast to the east coast of Northumbria.

The event was such a success that in June 2012, the group staged another coast to coast ride, in Ireland. By this time the group had grown in numbers and that year there were 38 cyclists including Marie and Ruth on a Tandem! We started in Dublin and over two days rode across the country to the city of Galway in the process raising £10,000 for St Rocco's Hospice and the Warrington Wolves foundation.
