Andy Reid signs up for The SPF Three Peaks Celebration Challenge

The Steve Prescott Foundation ambassador Andy Reid has signed up for the SPF Three Peaks Celebration Challenge which takes place on 18th June.

2016 sees the Steve Prescott Foundation pass the Million Pound mark in donations to charitable causes. We are delighted that Andy will be joining us to celebrate the life of Steve Prescott MBE and the incredible legacy he has left behind. Andy is a fantastic inspiration to everyone who meets him.

Corporal Andy Reid lost both his legs and his right arm after stepping on an IED plate whilst serving with the 3rd Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment in Afghanistan in 2009.

He also received ongoing treatment for his left arm, which was also damaged and is now fitted with a metal plate. Andy continues to make an amazing recovery through sheer guts and determination.

Over the past few years Andy has put himself through some immense challenges pushing himself to his physical and mental limit to raise funds for charities close to his heart including the SPF. Andy might be a triple amputee but he doesn't let this stop him from living the life he loves. Andy has fully embraced Steven’s motto ‘ What The Mind Believes The Body Achieves’. He has run the Washington D.C. Marathon, climbed Mount Snowden and completed a 90 mile kayak.

Andy is an amazing ambassador for the SPF: he has cycled from Land's End to John O'Groats, completed a skydive and last October Andy led the way in the SPF’s the Journey of League’s Extraordinary Gents by hand cycling from Hull to Old Trafford ahead of the Super League Grand Final. Andy has written about his own grit and determination in his autobiography Standing Tall. He is now an amazing, inspirational and motivational speaker in his own right, travelling the country with a unique positivity and humour.

Andy says. ‘Steve was a big inspiration to me during my rehabilitation so I want to push myself and raise funds for his amazing charity.’’

The Prescott Family, SPF Ambassadors and rugby league personalities including Paul Sculthorpe MBE, Martin Murray, Chris Joynt, Paul Newlove, Adrian Morley, Barrie McDermott and Iestyn Harris will also be attending.
