The Steve Prescott Foundation (SPF) is delighted to announce the return of one of its most iconic cycling challenges with the launch of the SPF Grand Depart 2027.
Back in 2014, SPF participants took on the historic first-ever Tour de France Grand Départ in Yorkshire, creating unforgettable memories whilst raising vital funds for charity. Thirteen years later, the Foundation is once again preparing to follow in the wheel tracks of the world's greatest cycling race.
From 4th – 6th June 2027, participants will cycle the first two British stages of the Tour de France as part of the SPF Grand Depart 2027.
The challenge will consist of:
🚴 Edinburgh to Carlisle – 184km
🚴 Keswick to Liverpool – 223km
Participants must be capable of completing each stage within a maximum of 14 hours per day, making this a true endurance challenge that will test both physical and mental resilience.
The event has been designed to provide participants with an unforgettable cycling experience whilst raising vital funds for charity.
Event Package Includes:
* Two exclusive Bioracer cycling shirts
* Pre-event evening meal
* Breakfast each morning
* Hotel accommodation in Edinburgh and Keswick
* GPX route files
* Support vehicles provided throughout the challenge
To secure a place on the event, participants are required to pay a £100 non refundable deposit and commit to a minimum fundraising target of £1,000.
All funds raised will support the beneficiaries of The Steve Prescott Foundation:
The Christie Cancer Hospital and the Seriously Injured Players Fund.
Martin Blondel, General Manager of The Steve Prescott Foundation, said:
"The 2014 Grand Départ was one of the most memorable challenges in the Foundation's history. The atmosphere created by the Tour de France coming to Yorkshire was incredible and it inspired so many people to take on a challenge they never thought possible.
When the opportunity arose to cycle the first two stages of the 2027 Tour de France, we knew it was something we wanted to be part of. The routes are challenging, the scenery will be spectacular and, most importantly, it will raise vital funds for our beneficiaries.
As Steve always demonstrated, what the mind believes, the body achieves, and we look forward to welcoming a team that will embody that spirit in June 2027."
Places are expected to fill quickly and sponsorship opportunities are also available.
