Workington Town Charity Day Raises a Phenomenal £11,102

The Steve Prescott Foundation is delighted to announce that our recent charity partnership with Workington Town Rugby League Football Club has raised an incredible £11,102, with the proceeds being shared equally between the Steve Prescott Foundation and Every Life Matters Cumbria.

The funds will enable both charities to continue making a real difference within their communities. The Steve Prescott Foundation’s share will support our beneficiaries, The Christie Charity and the Seriously Injured Players Fund (Rugby League Cares), while Every Life Matters Cumbria will continue its outstanding work supporting suicide prevention and those experiencing crisis across the region.

The event perfectly demonstrated everything that is great about the Rugby League family, with the club, supporters, sponsors and volunteers all coming together for two fantastic causes.

A special thank you goes to Workington Town RLFC, Chairman Graeme Peers, Director Carl Porter, Match Ball Sponsor Complete Roofing Systems, our ambassadors Tommy Martyn and Bennie Westwood, and everyone who supported the day.

The phenomenal shirt auction, which saw the iconic Prescott No.1 shirt and Zarrin Galea’s shirt each raise £1,000, was just one of many highlights from a truly memorable occasion.

Linzi Prescott, wife of the late Steve Prescott MBE, said:

“On behalf of everyone at the Steve Prescott Foundation, I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone connected with Workington Town for making the day so special. It means so much to us to see Stephen’s legacy continuing to inspire people and raise vital funds for such important causes. Every pound raised helps us continue supporting The Christie and the Seriously Injured Players Fund, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who played their part in making this remarkable total possible.”

The Steve Prescott Foundation is immensely proud to have shared this special day with Every Life Matters Cumbria, and together we thank everyone who contributed to an unforgettable occasion.

£11,102 raised. One incredible Rugby League family. Two amazing charities.
