Steve Prescott inspires Marathon Marras to tackle the Rock n Roll Lisbon Marathon

The SPF was contacted earlier this year by Pete Gatenby with a kind offer to fund raise for the charity by taking part in the Lisbon Rock n Roll Marathon on Sunday 2nd October 2016. Congratulations to lads and thank you for your fantastic support.

Pete is a member of the team who are ex or current Lancaster University Rugby League players, all of whom have close ties to the SPF itself or the causes it support.

Prasonisi to Mandraki Extreme Challenge Walk 2016

Following on from their amazing Extreme Challenge in 2015, Bradford Bulls fans Ben Moorhouse and Gaynor Thompson returned to Rhodes in August to beat their current record and rewrite history by completing the 70 mile East coast walk in an amazing TWO days. This time they started at the most southern point of the beautiful island at Prasonisi and walked to the finish line at the entrance to Mandraki Harbour. The route took in the historic Lindos Acropolis, the monastery at Faliraki and the beautiful Afandou Beach. They endured intense temperatures of 50C and had the blisters at the end to show for it. They have already raised an amazing £1717.38 for the Steve Prescott Foundation.

Hull KR fans walk the Beverley 20 for the SPF

Long time SPF supporter and Hull KR fan Jill Smithson organised a party of eight to walk the Beverley 20 in June this year. The Beverley 20 is a walk in the East Riding of Yorkshire that runs between Beverley Minster and the Humber Bridge and passes through the local villages of Skidby and North Ferriby and is part of the East Riding Heritage Trail.

Jason Benn completes Ironman UK

Jason Benn, a college Curriculum manager and lecturer in Catering at Nelson and Colne College Burnley, is no stranger to physical challenges having taken part in several Triathlons, Tough Mudders and marathons in the past 3 years. Jason’s latest challenge was the Ironman UK in Bolton recently. Jason very kindly nominated the Steve Prescott Foundation as his chosen charity and he proudly wore his SPF vest for the event. Jason said, “I want to thank you the SPF for arranging the vest and hoodie. I had a great day and finished in 14hrs, 58m. I really had to dig deep during the Marathon and I raised approx £250.”

Pupils Inspired by Steve Prescott

Mike Denning, Chairman of the Steve Prescott Foundation returned to his old primary school days last Friday to collect a donation from Pupils who, inspired by Precky, had on their own volition had made all manner of objects in a Origami project and sold the items to fellow students.

Mrs Harrison a teacher at the School and neighbour to Steve and Linzi in Eccleston said “The children did this all themselves and where truly inspired by Steves story. They are rightly all proud of their achievements”.
