SPF delighted to announce a further £50,000 donation to the Rugby League Benevolent Fund

Following on from yesterday’s donation to The Christie Hospital, the Steve Prescott Foundation (SPF) is delighted to announce that a further £50,000 has been donated to the Rugby League Benevolent Fund (Rugby League Cares).

On behalf of the SPF, General Manager Martin Blondel said:

“2025 was an incredibly tough year for charities, so to be able to donate such a significant sum to the Benevolent Fund is a true testament to our amazing supporters, who remain passionate about continuing the legacy of the great man, Steve Prescott.

It is vitally important that we continue to support the Benevolent Fund. Once someone takes to the rugby field, there is always an element of risk. While player welfare has vastly improved over the years, it is reassuring to know that the fantastic people at the Benevolent Fund are there to pick up the pieces should the worst happen.

It is also imperative that they can continue their outstanding work in caring for former players who have suffered life-changing injuries while taking part in the game we all love.”

Francis Stephenson, General Manager of the Rugby League Benevolent Fund, added:

“We are hugely grateful for the continued support of the Steve Prescott Foundation and their incredible supporters. They have been our largest donors since the formation of the SPF in 2007, and it is quite extraordinary that they continue to donate such substantial sums year after year.

Like ourselves, they truly care about the game and represent the very best of the rugby league family. We will ensure these funds are used wisely and appropriately for the benefit of our beneficiaries.”

The total donated by the Steve Prescott Foundation in 2025 now stands at an incredible £100,000, which will make a meaningful difference to the lives of many people less fortunate than ourselves.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our sponsors, supporters and beneficiaries a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
